WESTMEATH have been forced to make two attacking changes for tomorrow's round 4A qualifier against Fermanagh, with John Heslin and skipper Ger Egan both out through injury.
They are replaced by recalled veteran Denis Glennon and John Connellan.
Heslin carried a heel injury into the Dublin game and won't even tog, although it's hoped the freetaking talisman could recover to face Kerry if Westmeath negotiate this testing trip to Kingspan Breffni Park.
Egan picked up an injury at training but has been named in the subs. His absence is countered by the return of Connellan, who had impressed as an impact sub until missing the Leinster final through injury. He may now be handed the right-footed freetaking duties. Offaly boss Pat Flanagan expects his former Westmeath charges to re-embrace an attacking game-plan tomorrow.
"They got a lot of support, the way they played against Meath, and may have lost a lot particularly after the second half against Dublin," he surmised. "I would expect Westmeath to go back to what they did against Meath, because they have seriously good footballers and need to get a link between defence and the forward line to make that work."
THE Dublin and Armagh county boards have been hit with proposed fines of €5,000 each after the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) concluded its investigation into the challenge match flashpoint that left Dublin's Davey Byrne hospitalised with a broken nose.
