French enjoy revolution
For the first time in 30 years, France had two riders on the Tour overall podium yesterday - and there could be more to come from a wave of rising talent.
Jean-Christophe Peraud and Thibaut Pinot finished second and third overall behind Vincenzo Nibali, with Romain Bardet in sixth place.
While Peraud, 37, may never feature on the Tour podium again, Pinot and Bardet both have long careers ahead of them asthey lead a new generation of bold Frenchmen.
Not since Laurent Fignon and Bernard Hinault's one-two in 1984 have the host nation had two men on the podium and the last local who triumphed was Hinault in 1985.
Will there be another one soon? Possibly, said Pinot.
"It is possible, yes, but in the two or three coming years we're going to be too short," said the 24-year-old.
"I'm still far from Nibali, I'm more than eight minutes behind him. But Romain and I still have 10 years to ride, so there is time."
