THE road end goal was the scoring goal at O'Toole Park yesterday. The breeze that blew into it was a stiff one, and Boden availed of it to have ten points in the bank as they took their tea.

And their six-point advantage always looked enough to see them through to a semi-final meeting with the holders, St Vincent's.

The Boden backs had brought the cement, and in attack, they had aces in Andrew Kerin and Sam Molony.

They enjoyed a brisk opening, hitting four points without reply, the strikes coming from Declan O'Mahony (2), Ryan Basquel and Andrew Kerin.

O'Mahony had a fine game at midfield, and all through the hour, Boden were compact and composed.

Lucan didn't lack effort. Leading their recovery mission were Johnny McCaffrey, Paul Casey, Emmet ó Conghaile and the always lively Brendan Gallagher.

But the goal that the Sars' required just didn't arrive, and Dara Walsh's castle always looked secure.

Boden' four second half points proved telling. And they arrived from the boots of Conal Keaney, Moloney and two from Kerin.

Keaney's effort was the pick of the bunch before he retired injured.
