De Bromhead is Sizing up for Clonmel

Henry de Bromhead revealed that Sizing Europe was none the worse for his seasonal return at Gowran Park on Saturday when he won the Grade Two PWC Champion Chase for a fourth year running.

Described by the trainer as "a horse of a lifetime" the 12-year-old dug deep to collar Galway Plate winner Road To Riches in the closing stages to give 18-year-old Jonathan Burke the ideal start to his first season as retained rider to owners Alan and Ann Potts.

"He seems fine after the race, no problems," de Bromhead said.

"It was good performance and a great first run back - he showed a lot of heart."

Sizing Europe triumphed in the Clonmel Oil Chase in 2012 and that looks to be the more favoured option of connections rather than the JNWine.com Champion Chase over three-miles for which entries were due to close today.

"We'll see how everything unfolds in the next fortnight, but that (Clonmel Oil Chase) is a possibility."
