Daly not in mood to experiment

ANTHONY DALY has named a relatively strong line-up for tomorrow night's Bord na Móna Walsh Cup SH quarter-final against UCD in Parnell Park (7.30) - but he's also found room for three debutants.

The rookie trio promoted for their first competitive senior starts are Lucan's Chris Crummey, who skippered the Dublin minors to Leinster glory in 2011; Kevin Byrne of Crumlin; and Cuala's Mark Schutte, an All-Ireland U21 football winner last season, who has thrown in his lot with the hurlers.

Crummey has been named at wing-back, Byrne will partner Shane Durkin at midfield, while Schutte is listed at full-forward.

The latter's brother, Paul, will be patrolling the other square after being recalled following an injury-hit 2012 campaign.

The elder Schutte will be hoping to restate his claims to a place in the full-back line, now that Tomás Brady has defected to the Dublin footballers.

Another full-back option - 2011 All Star nominee Peter Kelly - is among several established names included on the bench tomorrow night. The Lucan flyer will be joined by the likes of David O'Callaghan, Ross O'Carroll and Simon Lambert.

As already revealed in the Herald, Johnny McCaffrey will once again captain the team in 2013 and he will continue in the centre-forward role where he has featured in challenge matches against Clare, Loughiel and Tipperary.

The Lucan Sarsfields' man will be flanked by Danny Sutcliffe and Conal Keaney in an imposing half-forward line.

DUBLIN (SH v UCD): G Maguire; N Corcoran, P Schutte, R Trainor; J Boland, M Carton, C Crummey; K Byrne, S Durkin; D Sutcliffe, J McCaffrey, C Keaney; E Dillon, M Schutte, P Ryan. Subs: A Nolan, A Clabby, K Dunne, P Kelly, S Lambert, N McMorrow, C Murphy, D O'Callaghan, R O'Carroll, G Whelan.
