NORWICH CITY man Mark Bunn says he's up for the fight to establish himself as Ireland's first choice goalkeeper, writes Aidan Fitzmaurice.
The 28-year-old, in action for the Canaries against Aston Villa in tonight's League Cup quarter-final, told the Evening Herald he's in the process of obtaining his Irish passport. He qualifies through his maternal grandmother, who was from Kildare.
In his first interview with an Irish newspaper, Bunn insists he wants to challenge Keiren Westwood for the right to be Shay Given's long-time successor. "Now that Shay has retired from international football I see a great opportunity to get in there and play," Bunn said.
