Brogan returns to action for Plunkett's
ALAN BROGAN made his long-awaited comeback to club action when he helped St Oliver Plunkett's/ER to a 0-1 1 each draw with St Jude's yesterday morning.
Brogan has not been in competitive action since before Christmas after undergoing a scaphoid operation.
Brogan clearly has work to do match fitness wise but Pat Gilroy will be delighted that one of the county's most talented forwards is lacing the boots again after a three-month lay-off.
Meanwhile, a cracker of a Division 1 game at Rolestown. Fingal Ravens beat the league champs, Ballymun Kickhams, 0-12 to 0-10.
Both sides were missing several players. That didn't dilute the tempo. It was Fingal's first win from two. They lost the opener, narrowly, to Parnells.
Ravens welcomed back Warren Finnegan from injury. A class act. Damian Flanagan also showed his quality. For the 'Mun, Ian Roberston played in defence. The Corpo will be on to him. He cleaned up everything.
Fingal led at the break, 0-9 to 0-6. Niall Tormey and Alan Casey had games to remember. PJ Casey also jumped the high fences.
Second-half points from Tormey and Stephen Madigan extended Fingal's lead. Kickhams kept at it.
Late on, James Burke and Derek Byrne reduced the deficit to a point. The teams drew last term. This was looking like an action replay. But then Tormey took the biscuit with the last score of the game. It was appropriate that he got it.
