Boro tame the Lions
DAVID Forde's Millwall have lost ground in their battle to stay in the Championship and avoid the drop into England's third tier after another defeat last night.
The Lions went down 3-0 away to table-toppers Middlesbrough, and with a return of just one point from the last five league games, Forde's side are facing a real battle to stay in the division as they are six points from safety and James McClean's Wigan could go level on points with the London club if they can manage a win against Norwich City tonight.
Derby County lost their place at the top of the table to Boro after the Rams had a surprise defeat away to Chris Hughton's Brighton.
Jeff Hendrick and Richard Keogh started for Derby but two second-half goals, from Dale Stephens and Kazenga Lua Lua helped Brighton get the win and ease their relegation fears.
Brentford moved into the playoff places thanks to a 4-1 win away to Huddersfield Town. Former St Patrick's Athletic man Jake Carroll came on as a half-time sub for Huddersfield, his first appearance of the season for the Terriers.
Wolves' promotion hopes suffered a blow with a 2-1 loss away to Bournemouth. The sides were level at half time as Yann Kermorgant and Benik Afobe swapped goals but Kermorgant struck for the winner, Kevin Doyle unable to nab an equaliser.
