THIS week, Ballyboden St Enda's received terrible news that Eoghan Culligan - one of our club players - tragically passed away in Berkeley, California. Eoghan has been a member of Ballyboden St Enda's since childhood and was a key member of the minor team that won the league in 2011. The Ballyboden St Enda's GAA community rallied together to help any friends and families that have been affected by Eoghan's passing. We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Eoghan's family and friends. Our thoughts are also with the families of Lorcán Miller, Niccolai Schuster, Eimear Walsh, Olivia Burke and Ashley Donohue. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamnacha.

AN incredible few days for our club and community with a weekend never to be forgotten. Main events included the Community Mass and Masters' game on Friday, where it was great to see so many current and past members visit with their families. Highlight being the exhibition of old photographs and newspaper articles from years gone by. On Saturday, we had the official opening by Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, Aogán Ó Fearghail. Again, there was a great turnout for this event with many supporters, sponsors, local clubs, county board representatives and local political representatives in attendance. A wonderful and late night was had at the Summer Hooley on Saturday evening. Thanks to the dedicated club committee, who arranged the whole weekend. Thanks to all club and community members for volunteering and who were so helpful over the weekend, giving up their time for variety of roles. Without this type of community support such a weekend would not have been possible. Thanks to Deirdre Hurley of LMFM for MCing Saturday's official opening. This weekend's events signified the beginning of a new chapter in our club. One which we are very much looking forward to writing. On the field, men's first team lost away to St Margaret's in the league on Wednesday (1-7 to 0-7) and had a good win over St Monica's in the league, also on Saturday. Men's 2nd team had a home win over Pavee on Thursday. Ladies first team drew away with Clontarf in the Cup on Wednesday. The girls are away in Championship action to St Jude's this coming Wednesday. Lots of juvenile games on Saturday at home with U8s and U9s in action against Castleknock and Raheny. There were some great games on show and these kicked off a wonderful day of celebration for our club.

NA Dubhgall played Lucan Sarfields on Saturday and what a great match. It was a very close first half, but in the second half of the match we managed to pull away. Very difficult to pick a man of the match as everyone was outstanding from the endless running of Cian Hayes, to the rock Darragh Heavey to Sean Elliot, who played through the pain barrier to stop the match from being forfeited. Some excellent link-ups led to some great scores. Don't forget, training each Tuesday from 4pm in The Coast, Baldoyle. Na Dubhgall U8s played against Fingallians on Saturday. Although we lost, we had a great game. Fun was had by all and even the birthday boy Rory Skelly scored a goal. It was brilliant to see the children out playing matches and enjoying themselves. Don't forget, training each Tuesday from 3pm at our pitch in the Racecourse Park. If you're interested in joining, come on down. New players are always welcome.

CONGRATULATIONS Kate Fitzgibbon and the Dublin U21 ladies on their well-merited victory over Cork to win the 2015 Aisling McGing U21 All-Ireland Final. Ladies football was the true winner on Sunday, as Cork and Dublin played a super game. Kate was also on hand to help our adult ladies beat St Finian's/Ballyboughal last Wednesday in the Cup. It was a mixed week for our senior footballers, beating Naomh Barrog on Wednesday and then succumbed to Skerries on Sunday in the league. OUR Annual Fun Day took place on Saturday last and, as its name suggests, lots of fun was had by everyone who attended. The weather played its part in what was a lovely day, with hundreds of children and parents taking part in games, listening to music and enjoying picnics in the Park. Such a great day takes a lot of effort to put together and special thanks go to Paul Dever and his many volunteers for organising such a brilliant, fun-filled day. We must also thank James Devlin and the Leinster GAA Board for organising and providing the inflatable pitch. The Dublin Meat Company and Peacock's Steakhouse also deserve a mention for providing food for the many hungry bellies during and after the day's activities. Lots of photos are available on the St Finian's Facebook page. Bookings for the Summer Camp can be made using the on-line link on our website homepage or by dropping into the club office. It's vital, for planning purposes, to complete the booking procedure as far in advance as possible, as places can only be guaranteed if registration is completed at least one week in advance of the Camp. The first Camp is the Kellogg's Cul Camp on July 6th. The Club Lotto Jackpot was €3,600 this week and the numbers drawn were 1, 6, 10 & 23. There was no Jackpot winner. The winners of the €25 'lucky dip' prizes were: Brian Howe, Catriona Donnelly, Nicky Dylan and Callum & Emma Reilly. Next week's Jackpot will be €3,700.
