OUR Heroes of the Week this week are our U11 girls' team, who with a win last Wednesday, have now gone 5 out of 5 in the league with a brilliant all-round team performance. Well done girls, and take a bow, you are our "Laoch na Seachtaine" and well-deserved too. The brilliance of Niamh Cody, Rebecca Walsh and Ella Keating helped to win, but the managers stressed it was the way in which the girls played that made the team win. They now have training in St Kevin's on Wednesday at 6.30pm. Well done girls. Our U10 boys' team nearly pipped the girls for Heroes of the Week this week, as they played a brilliantly-organised Blitz in Na Fianna last weekend, and went on to win it, and to get runners-up with the B team in the Shield competition. Now that's how to play competitive football. Well done in particular to Luca Danielle and Sean O'Connell. Top class displays from both of the boys helped terrific team performances. Congratulations to both Dublin teams on a great day in Croke Park, and particularly, our members who were more than pivotal in helping the footballers to a huge win. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to young Mark Leonard. Over the weekend he got to see his beloved Dubs and Arsenal triumph, and this will no doubt speed up the recovery. A big thank you also to Dean Rock, who dropped into Mark last week also. Keep an eye out for all the dates of our Summer Camps, Road Leagues, our Annual Golf Classic and our Family Club Day "La nagClub". All the details of which are on our website, www.ballymunkickhams.com, where you can also link to our Facebook page and Twitter feeds.

A VERY well-attended and successful briefing took place during the week for team mentors and interested parents to take stock of recent developments and lay the foundations for further progress. Organised by Juvenile Chairman, Brian Delany, the format of the evening was a series of short presentations to inform coaches and parents of the behind-the-scenes work being done at all levels in the club; to examine a team case study to provide learning points for others and to identify appropriate coaching plans for 2015-16. Good groundwork has also been undertaken for this year's Summer Camps, which will run in July and August. Packed with activities that include football and hurling skills, obstacle courses and fun games, this year's Camps will offer plenty for ages 4-12. The schedule is: Week 1; 20-24th July. Week 2; 27-31st July [Cúl Camp] and Week 3; 10-14th August. Running from 10am-2.30pm each day (2pm last day). The cost is €60 per child with €10 discount for siblings. Visit www.clannagaelfontenoy.ie to register online or contact Claireryan.gpo@gmail.com. The following numbers drawn on the 18th May did not produce a winner for a jackpot of €9,400: 3, 5, 9 and 24. MARTIN Leonard RIP. It is with great sadness we learned of the death of Martin Leonard from Channel Road, Rush. Martin played in goals both with St Maur's and with Dublin down the years and was a very popular member of our club. Our sincere sympathies go out to his wife Collette and sons Cathal and Fintan at this time. Congratulations to Maeve Bogan, who helped Dublin A beat Clare A in the Shield Final of the Munster U14 Camogie Blitz in Mallow on Sunday. Maur's adult hurlers lost out away to St Vincent's, 2-13 to 2-6. Our adult ladies footballers narrowly lost out to Clann Mhuire at home with a score of 4-6 to 3-10. Best of luck to our St Maur's girl Megan Benson and the Dublin U14s, who will be in Clane GAA Club for the 2015 clash of Dublin and Meath. Congratulations to the U13 girls' footballers, who had a close encounter with our neighbours Skerries, but came away with a win today. Final score: Maur's 5-7, Skerries 3-6. The U8 ladies footballers played two hard games in Kilbarrack against Naomh Barrog GAA. Both games were close and the girls did great with one game full of attacking play and the other needing hard-tackling and industrious play. One game won and one game lost. St Maur's U7 played in a great Blitz Sunday morning in Na Fianna against Na Fianna and FingallIans. It was great to see 3 Maur's teams out on a Bank Holiday weekend. We recorded plenty of wins too. Lotto Jackpot: €4,500. Numbers drawn were: 3, 21, 23 & 30. There was no winner. Lotto Lucky Dip winners of €50 each: Sam Murphy, Kate McLoone, Catherine Smith, Leona Skelly & Marie McGuinness. WE extend our sympathy to the Coughlan family on the sudden death of Pat. Pat was a long-time member of the club and played on our very first hurling team when we regrouped in the 1970s. May his soul Rest In Peace. Thank you to Aonghus McAnally for staging his show "The Games People Play" in the club on Friday night. It was a wonderful evening's entertainment. On the playing fields, it was another busy week. Our senior hurlers defeated Na Fianna in the Championship, while the juniors had a good win over Cuala. Both sides are now in contention to reach the knockout stages. The junior camogie girls made it 6 wins in-a-row with a fine display against St Mark's, while the adult ladies football team overcame Peregrine's. It's Championship football this week. Our seniors play Raheny in Parnell Park on Friday night, while our juniors are away to St Vincent's on Sunday morning. Please support the lads. Congratulations to Stevie McConnell and Deirdre McLoughlin, who were engaged recently.

The senior ladies footballers were in fine form against Clontarf B and came away with a comprehensive win, making up for their two point defeat by Castleknock earlier in the week. Junior hurlers were defeated by Civil Service in the C Hurling Championship Group 1 game on Tuesday last. Civil Service 1-23, Naomh Olaf 1-9. David Byrne lined out at full-back for Dublin against Longford on Sunday in Croke Park and proved solid and tenacious in defence. David was marking Brian Kavanagh, who is well known to many of the Olaf's players, as Brian is teaching in the local St Olaf's National School. Hard luck to Nia Kennedy and the Dublin U14 ladies footballers, defeated by Meath in the Leinster Final in Clane on Saturday.
