CLANNA GAEL FONTENOY

AFTER serving many years as club manager, Shay Connolly has decided to move on to other things. His enthusiasm and passion for the club and for Gaelic Games will be greatly missed - but hopefully not lost to us entirely. Fittingly, it was that very passion that recently earned Shay a Sean Moore Community Award. In the award citation, Roisín Ingle aptly summed up Shay in one word - passion: whether passion for the GAA through his work for the club and his representation of the club at all levels in the wider community; or passion for the community he serves through his involvement in a host of other projects to promote people welfare. She also referenced his real and deep understanding of the people of Ringsend and further afield. Congratulations to Shay - a most deserving recipient. And we look forward to still seeing him around the club on a regular basis - not least shouting support for Clanns teams from the sideline. Well done to our U10 hurlers, who graced Croke Park during the half-time interval in the recent Dublin v Cork hurling fixture. It was a great experience for the players, mentors and parents alike and all thoroughly enjoyed it - even if the result didn't go the way of the Dubs. Congratulations are also due to our junior ladies football team, who finished third overall in an International Tournament in The Hague, Netherlands. Last but not least, a word of congratulations must go to the Scoil Uí Fontenoy U16 hurlers (the combined Scoil Uí Chonaill and Clanna Gael Fontenoy team). In just their second match since gaining promotion to Division 1, they recorded their first and hard-fought win with a three-point victory against Raheny.

CLONTARF

TEAM of the Week are our U16 girls, who started their Division 1 league campaign with a fine win over Ballyboden. Intermediate hurlers started life in AHL4 with a good win over Trinity Gaels. Minor A footballers drew with Ballymun in a terrific Division 1 game. U14B hurlers also drew v Setanta. There was no winner of the Club Lotto this week. The numbers drawn were: 7-8-24-26. Weekly consolation winners were James Costello and Gabriel Byrne. Next week's jackpot is worth €7,400. You can join our Club Lotto by logging on to our website. The club has organised a Sports Prediction Quiz. Costing €20, you can predict the winners of upcoming sports events. FRIENDS OF DUBLIN HURLING

WE had a very enjoyable bus trip to Ennis last Saturday. Obviously the result was disappointing, but the Dubs put in a very big effort and probably should have won the game. Clare came good in the last-quarter. Dotsy O'Callaghan had a wonderful game and was voted Man of the Match by the supporters on the bus. So it's all down to the final game versus Galway at Parnell Park next Sunday. A win or a draw would guarantee a quarter-final game. If Kilkenny beat Clare, Dublin will be through even if they lose to Galway. We had a very small turnout for our AGM. A motion was passed that members who had not paid their membership fee in 2014 would be contacted by text and asked to renew for 2015 by the end of March or have their names taken off the texting list etc. Members who pay online will be requested to arrange payment from December-March 31st so that we have complete up to date membership list by the end of March. Val Langstone, Phil Burke and Ciarán Mac Anraoi were voted on to the committee for 2015. Membership costs €20 for adults and €10 for juveniles. You can sign online at www.fodh.ie or send your money and details to Tom O'Donnell. We will also be selling memberships at Parnell Park on March 22nd for the Galway game. Those who sign up in March will be in a draw for 2 tickets to the quarter-finals of the league on Sunday March 29th. We will be selling caps [€5] and polo shirts [€35] at Parnell Park on Sunday. FODH fleece jackets [€50] can be ordered by sending your money and size details to Tom O'Donnell at Games Office, St Vincent's CBS, Glasnevin, Dublin 11, no later than March 22.
