UNFORTUNATELY this week, the club notes are dominated by the sad news of the sudden passing of Mrs Moira Andrews. Moira was the leader of the household that has filled our club with it's greatest members and a staunch supporter of all things Ballymun Kickhams. A strong, passionate and compassionate lady, who made all our lives more colourful and she is a vibrance that will never be replaced. The executive committee of the club offer all of the Andrews clan, in particular Val, Carmel, Joan and all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, our sincerest and deepest sympathies. The solace we all take is that she will join her husband Jack, her son Sean and her grandson Nollaig in peace and that her long and full life made all our lives greater for knowing her. Ar Dheis de go raibh a hAnaim. Congratulations to the Dublin senior footballers, and all our playing members, but commiserations to Paddy Christie and his squad on Sunday's results. The club is proud of you all. In other news, the Club Nursery is now finished for the summer and returns on August 22nd. Meanwhile, we have our Summer Camps. Camp 1 is on 1st-3rd July and the Kellogg's Camp 2 is on 6th-10th July. For more information on these, please call/text Shane on 086-1600042. Our Club Family Day is on Saturday July 25th (forgive any previous typo errors with this date) and the full schedule for the event will be launched this week. Please keep an eye on our website, www.ballymunkickhams.com or our Facebook and Rwitter for updates on these, or to find out about our Golf Classic on August 28th in The K Club.

Also on this week is Senior Football League against St Pat's Donabate at 6:30pm in Somerton. Get out and support both teams. GMT is on every Tuesday and Thursday, starting at the Carpenter at 6:30pm. Application forms for the Summer Camps are now on the website. There was no winner of this week's Lotto Jackpot, which now stands at €4,400. The nursery is on every Saturday in Tir Na nOg at 10am, and all new players and families are welcome.

WELL done to our intermediate hurlers on a great performance during the week in the league. In a hugely entertaining game against St Oliver Plunkett's, they earned a well-deserved draw with a scoreline of 3- 14 to 1-20. Unfortunately, goals were harder to come by for our U15 hurlers, who went down to a visiting Rialto Gaels team. Though they recorded the same total number of scores, the visitors' goals proved the defining difference. Our U14 footballers took themselves to Mallow for a Regional Feile, where they did well in winning two of their three matches, just missing out in reaching the final. Off the field of play, the way is set for this year's Summer Camps, which will run in July and August. Packed with activities that include football and hurling skills, obstacle courses and fun games, this year's Camps will offer plenty for ages 4-12. The schedule is: Week 1; 20-24 July, Week 2; 27-31 July [Cúl Camp] and Week 3; 10-14 August. Running from 10am-2.30pm each day (2pm last day), the cost is €60 per child with €10 discount for siblings. Visit www.clannagaelfontenoy.ie to register online or contact Claireryan.gpo@gmail.com. More immediately, club members, supporters and friends will assemble on Friday 3rd July in the clubhouse to celebrate the contributions which four long-standing servants of the club have made over the years: Shay Connolly, Eugene Davey, Frank White and Michael O'Kane will be the toast of the evening, which is expected to attract large numbers.

IT was with great sadness last week that we said farewell to our Club Chairman Declan O'Brien. The trojan work he did for our club will never be forgotten. We pass on the condolences from all in the club to his wife Trudy and children Keira, Niamh and Lorcan, grandchild Ciaran, son-in-law Gordon, mother Joan, sister Carmel, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May he rest in eternal peace. Thank you to all our members & friends for ensuring that Declan received the farewell he deserved. We would like to thank the county board for honouring Declan at the Dublin v Kildare match last Sunday. It was a fitting tribute to a man who dedicated 28 years of his life to the running of our club. They are kids no more, as they secured a great victory. GAA Uachtarán, Aogán Ó Fearghail will visit the club on the morning of Saturday 25th July 2015 between 10am-12pm to formally open our new upgraded all-weather pitch. IT was a mixed week for our senior and junior teams in the Championship. The seniors game against St Sylvester's was conceded by St Sylvester's, thereby ensuring that our seniors qualify for the Championship semi-final. The juniors were beaten by a very strong Naomh Barrog team, which effectively ends their Championship hopes for this year. However, the season is far from over for this team, as they are unbeaten in the Division 5 League and they have also qualified for the semi-final of the Division 5 Cup. On Saturday morning, our U14s travelled to Cloghan, Co Monaghan to play in the Regional Féile. The team were drawn in the same group as Aodh Rua from Tyrone, Athlone from Westmeath and Lucan Sarsfields. It was an early start with everybody assembling in Kilbogget at 7:45am for the almost 2-hour bus trip to Monaghan. The team arrived in Cloghan nice and early, so they had plenty of time to prepare for their first game against the girls from Tyrone. It took them a while to settle, but in the end they ran out comfortable winners on a final score of Foxrock Cabinteely, 10-7; Aodh Rua 0-0. Next up were the girls from Athlone, who have yet to lose a game in Westmeath this year. Foxrock/Cabinteely continued where they left off against Aodh Rua and ran out winning by 5-8 to 0-7. The third and last game was against Lucan Sarsfields and the last 3 games between Foxrock/Cabinteely and Lucan have always gone to the wire. When the teams played in the last league game of 2014, it finished in a draw. Unfortunately for our girls, they lost (again) by 1 point and missed out on a place in the final.

GOOD luck to our senior and minor hurlers and our senior camogie team this weekend. We will have buses going to Portlaoise on Saturday. They will depart Connolly Station at 2.45pm and Rathcoole Village at 3.15pm. The fare is €10 for adults and €5 for juveniles. To book your seat, text your name and pick up point to 087-2331983 by 6pm on Thursday. Tickets for the two games cost €15 and should be purchased in Dublin. The buses will return immediately after the second game.

LAST week, the hurlers were beaten by Bray Emmets and drew with Finbarr's. Both adult camogie sides won their first two games of Summer Cup, the seniors beating Vincent's 7-12 to 0-4 and the juniors beating Thomas Davis 3-6 to 1-5. The U16 footballers beat Kilmacud Crokes 5-15 to 3-8 last week and the U15 footballers also had a great win over Sylvester's, 8-12 to 1-4. Next Saturday, the first team footballers play Clann Mhuire in Naul at 6.30pm and on Sunday the second team footballers play St Brigid's at Galtymore at 3pm. The senior 2 camogie side play Lucan in 12th Lock at 7.15pm on Tuesday and the senior 5 side play Kevins in CBC in Dolphin's Barn at 7.30pm. The executive committee at its meeting on 24th June decided for financial reasons, due to very few customers, to close the bar on Monday and Tuesday nights for the months of July and August commencing Monday July 6th (with the exception of the August Bank Holiday). The matter will be reviewed again in September. The Club Lawnmower has been taken from the club in the past number of weeks. We sincerely ask if anyone has borrowed it, or if you saw anyone taking it from the premises, to let the club know. The club is also taking part in a fundraiser with The Echo newspaper. Each Thursday there will be vouchers in the paper. The club that collects the most wins a kit for their club, so please support. "Strictly": a reminder to all members and parents - please contact Gretta on 087-6702866 if you have any update in obtaining an advert or donation for our forthcoming fundraiser - "Strictly Counsel Style" - or indeed if you need more letters or any further information.
