BALLYMUN KICKHAMS

OUR Hero of the Week this week is none other than Darragh Conlon. Darragh spent Saturday morning coaching at our nursery, in the afternoon provided a masterclass display from midfield for our U16s in the Shield Final, helping the lads to a great win, and chipping in with a score of 1-3. Well done Darragh, you are a credit to your team, managers, and your family. Our deserved Hero of the Week. Take a bow Darragh. Laoch na Seachtaine. The U16s deserve all plaudits this week and following hot on the coat tails of Feile success last week, the lads ran out worthy winners, and despite the scare of 2 late goals, the A Shield was captured by a brilliant team display. With special performances by not only Darragh, but also Darren Robinson, Cameron McCormack and Eamon Hill. Great credit to the management team and all the parents/guardians who run this group of exceptional young men. They are a credit to the club and the amazing way they regrouped after the shock exit from Championship is remarkable. Well done lads. Big thank you goes out to the aforementioned Feile winners, who came to nursery on Saturday, and gave out advice to our kiddies, and showed off the silverware. Thanks everyone, and well done again lads. Well done to our intermediates, who defeated Clann Mhuire in the 1st round of Championship during the week. We are holding our Family Fun Day on July 25th in St Kevin's School. Our Summer Camps and Street Leagues, and also our Annual Golf Classic in The K Club this year are open for business. For more info on these, and other club news, you can get all details on our website, www.ballymunkickhams.com, where you can also join our Facebook and Twitter.

U9 girls fielded 3 camogie teams against a very strong Kilmacud opposition. Georgia Wright and Lara O'Connor played great for the Bens. Great win away by the U13 boys at Lucan. MOM: Conor Flanagan. CLANNA GAEL FONTENOY

CONGRATULATIONS to our U14 footballers in recording a fine win over Castleknock in their Division 1 football fixture this weekend in Sean Moore Park. Coming hot on the heels of their performance the previous weekend in the Division 1 Féile, where they recorded impressive victories over Kilmacud Crokes and Ballyboden St Enda's, it further confirms the ability of this team to mix it with the best at the highest level. Congratulations also to those of our female footballers, who have recently been 'flying the flag' for the club with such success on the inter-county scene. The list includes Maria O'Dea, who helped the Dublin U16 ladies (managed by clubman Pat Kane) to capture the Leinster Championship; Orla Flanagan and Sarah O'Laoide, who have contributed strongly to the Dublin U14 team; and Kim Flood and Serena Hannon, who were both part of the Leinster Interprovincial squad playing against Munster in the MMI Interprovincial Championship Shield Final. Despite a strong display, our intermediate footballers lost by four points to Fingallians in the league, but they still occupy a position in the upper half of the table. The coming week sees a special session in the club for all team mentors to build further on the strong training and development programmes evident across all age groups in the club. ONCE again we must highlight the performances by our U13 girls. The football team drew their match against Clontarf on Saturday, in what was a thrilling game with fantastic home support. Emma Howe stopped a Clontarf penalty late in the game to save the draw and they now play Oliver Plunkett's on Thursday in the play-off to decide promotion to Division 1. Let's ensure they have lots of support. The U13 camogie team also had a great win against Cuala on Sunday morning, a result which makes it almost certain they have won Division 2. Well done girls and mentors. Our U7 Academy played a series of games on Saturday morning at Trinity Gaels and reports of some great skills and fun were received. The Summer Camps dates have been released, with four different weeks being available for all levels of boys and girls ages 5-17 being catered for. Pitches 1 and 3 now have fully operational Ball Stop Nets to ensure mentors, coaches, players and teams will be spending less time clambering through the bushes looking for footballs and sliotars and more time focused towards the action on the pitch. The club would like to thank everyone who has signed up to the Playing Facilities Programme and so generously donated towards the programme. This is essential playing facilities development for the Club to ensure a bright and progressive future for all our teams. So far, we have in excess of 250 people signed up to the programme out of our target of 400. If you would like to sign up to the programme, please ask behind the Club Bar or download a registration form on our website. Just €21 per month will contribute towards the completion of all 3 phases of the programme. Our senior ladies footballer Louise O'Connell is currently in Africa working as a volunteer doctor. We are organising a collection of jerseys to send over to Louise. Please have a quick look for any unwanted jerseys (club or county) and leave them behind the bar in Jude's before June 8th.
