Ali is keen on quick return to the ring

DUBLIN have been jolted by a serious injury to top performer, Ali Twomey.

The county ace broke her ankle while training with her club, Lucan Sarsfields.

She now faces a race against the clock to be back fully fit for Dublin's All-Ireland Championship campaign which begins in June.

It's a blow to Dublin manager, Shane O'Brien, and his management crew. Ali is one of the most gifted scoresmiths in the country and she has been in tremendous form this term.

She has been excellent from the placed ball and she has also contributed to the rent from play.

She was a constant presence as the Dubs recorded a solid Division 1 League offering, beating Derry and Clare and losing narrowly to the heavyweights, Cork and Kilkenny. An incisive, intelligent stylist, Ali is a heart-beat of a Lucan team, who have achieved much on their rise up the ranks.

She is determined to make it back into the boots as soon as possible. Dublin's All-Ireland schedule reads: June 20: Home to Kilkenny. July 4: Home to Tipperary. July 11: Away to Clare. July 18: Away to Derry.
