Madeline transforms herself into a star
Just over two years ago, Madeline Mulqueen was a relative unknown.
Other than a brief appearance in the Rubberbandits' Horse Outside video, she was just another Irish model.
So when I was introduced to her as a fellow contestant on Celebrity Come Dine With Me, I had to pause to try and place her, as I'm sure she did me.
We were the two least well-known diners.
In the past year, however, Madeline's profile has sky-rocketed, courtesy of her relationship with actor Jack Reynor.
At the Irish premiere of his Transformers movie last week, Madeline was still at Jack's side, strolling up her umpteenth red carpet in the past fortnight.
But one photograph from outside the Savoy last week has stuck in my mind, standing out from the usual loved-up pose that she has regularly struck with her man.
In this photograph, Madeline was all by herself, with her back to the camera, as she engaged with the crowds outside the cinema. And, if I'm not mistaken, she was doing the thing that only true stars do. Something I have never done in my life. She was signing autographs.
Congratulations on your A-list status, Madeline. You may recall I once appeared with you on Come Dine With Me.
Please remember me on your way down...
