It's that time of the year again.

It's that time of the year again.

The sun is shining, the evenings are long and May is just around the corner - it must be time for Punchestown.

Next week, Ireland's answer to Cheltenham will take place in Kildare. The festival is a major highlight of the Irish sporting calendar, and the social one too - where the likes of model Holly Carpenter (above) hang out.

Some of us will watch the form and head down for the horses, some will go for the fashion and some, like myself, will make our way down the M7 for a couple of pints and a couple of punts.

On occasion it can be a graveyard for punters, of course, but not always.

The sun will hopefully shine next week and I'll be heading down to enjoy a flutter on Tuesday, when The Herald sponsors a hurdle race.

Good luck to all - here's to us all getting the best of the bookies.
