A peaceful Christmas to our readers
WE celebrate Christmas Day tomorrow -- and it's a time to be thankful. For most of us, 2012 was a tough year, as economic difficulties continued to hit hard.
Unemployment remained stubbornly high, another austerity Budget took more money from our pockets and consumer spending was low for much of the year.
But despite the gloom, people have kept their spirits up.
Christmas cheer has been more evident this December than of late, and retailers have reported the best trade of the past five years.
Tomorrow is a day for what's important, for families and friends to come together and celebrate in each other's company, and for children to experience the magic of Christmas.
As we enjoy the food, drink and company, we should reflect and be thankful for what we have.
We wish all our readers a peaceful, happy Christmas and every good wish for 2013.
