Sybil Mulcachy was left shaken last night after her car was involved in a collision with a cyclist.

The TV3 star had been attending an after-party for the launch of Xpose Live at Krystle nightclub prior to the accident.

The mum-of-two left the celebrity haunt shortly after 11pm and was driving home when a cyclist apparently veered out in front of her.

Despite her best efforts, the horrified presenter could not prevent hitting the person, but thankfully the cyclist escaped without injury.

sober

A TV3 employee explained how Sybil was devastated by the incident and had been sober when the accident happened.

"Sybil hadn't touched a drop of alcohol all night, she never does when she's driving or when she knows she'll have the kids in the morning," they told the Herald. "She had said her goodbyes and had headed off to go home when we got word that she had hit a cyclist.

"Poor Sybil was in bits, she kept saying it was just her luck to have a cyclist cross in front of her.

"The whole night had gone off brilliantly and then that had to go and happen," they added.

It is not known yet whether the cyclist received medical attention following the incident. However, the person is said to have immediately jumped up off the ground and told onlookers they were okay. Earlier that night, Sybil, who is due to begin presenting a new morning show alongside weatherman Martin King, had taken to the stage alongside her Xpose colleagues for the launch of Xpose Live at the RDS.

Following the show Sybil and the other entertainment reporters had dropped in to the Harcourt Street venue for an after-party.

snub

According to pals the glam blonde had merely popped in to show her face and left to go home to her husband and children soon after her arrival.

Meanwhile Glenda Gilson, who property developer Johnny Ronan distanced himself from via a press release issued by a PR company, was determined to let her hair down and prove she was unaffected by the embarrassing snub.

As the evening went on the Xpose presenter chatted and danced with friends.

Among those who attended the launch at the RDS earlier that evening were Alan Hughes, Lisa Fitzpatrick and Darren Kennedy.
