Aisling O'Loughlin has admitted she does not think TV3 will combine Xpose and UTV Ireland's The Pulse following Virgin Media's recent purchase of the station.

The TV3 owner recently bought the station from ITV, and UTV Ireland's entertainment news show The Pulse, hosted by Jenny Buckley (right), is very similar to the long-running Xpose.

With the future of several shows on the station now up in the air, O'Loughlin is not sure what the future holds.

"I would say they probably won't do it, I don't think they will combine them," she told the Herald.

The TV presenter, who has been a fixture on Xpose since its debut in 2007, revealed she is not sure what the future holds for the show.

Separate

"I don't have a clue what is going to happen with The Pulse," she said. "They could keep the shows separate and try and adapt them."

While the future of the showbiz programme may be up in the air, the mum-of-three revealed she believes that the new move is a good one.

"All the old people who went to UTV will be back again. You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave," she said jokingly.

"I think it's a great development, it's really very exciting. Apparently UTV is lovely and they have a nice set-up down there, so it'll be nice to see that. But it's all still up in the air."

The Clare native is currently enjoying her maternity leave and has been temporarily replaced by former 3e presenter Cassie Stokes.

Meanwhile, O'Loughlin's TV3 co-worker Ray Foley was unsure what the purchase of UTV Ireland would mean.

"From what I've read, UTV is going to keep going - which may or may not mean a lot of changes for TV3," he said. "They'll have to work all that out."
