Irish choreographer and dancer Emer Walsh has revealed how working with Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland has changed her life.

The Bray native (34) has worked with a host of big names, including The Saturdays, Tinie Tempah and the former X Factor judge since moving to London to pursue her dancing dream a decade ago.

Emer, who studied Law in UCD before training as a dancer, toured with Kelly for two years and revealed that the singer helped boost her confidence.

"She was a wonderful employer and she really looked after us very well," she said.

"I know it's a strange thing to say but she gave me a lot of confidence and opportunities to choreograph as well as dance.

"She handles fame so gracefully, and being around someone like that is a real experience."

"It was definitely one of my highlights," she added.

As well as working on TV shows such as The Voice UK, Emer works as a dance teacher in London.

Speaking at the Dublin 2020 Dance Party yesterday, Emer admitted that not enough homegrown dancers get jobs in Irish shows, with performers often being sourced from the UK.

There's a lot of talent in Ireland and it would be lovely for there to be more opportunities here," she said.

"It's a shame because a lot of dancers for Irish shows are outsourced from the UK."
