With Niall as his caddy Rory's career is going in One Direction
WHAT better way for Niall Horan to unwind after a tumultuous few weeks for One Direction than a trip around the golf course - as Rory McIlroy's caddy.
The Mullingar singer carried the Irish golfer's clubs as he competed in the Par 3 competition in Augusta, Georgia last night.
He may not have cut the same figure as McIlroy's previous caddy - the golfer's ex Caroline Wozniaki - but he certainly garnered attention as he helped his pal around the course.
For two years 25-year-old McIlroy employed the help of Caroline before their much-publicised split last summer.
Despite a torrent of rumours and speculation about the world number one's romantic status, it seems that no other woman has yet earned her place alongside him on the green.
Superstar singer Niall, however, was more than happy to step up to the plate and get a glimpse of the action ahead of the prestigious tournament.
Niall is a keen golfer and is an honorary member of his local club.
He also regularly competes in charity tournaments, but this marks the first time he has ever attended a Masters.
The Par 3 is traditionally a relaxed affair with many pros using their children or other family members to act as caddies for the day.
Horan (21) also had a chance to catch up with golfing legends Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer before the competition began.
Tiger and Niall posed for a picture alongside McIlroy in the US sunshine before hitting the green.
This year marks the first time in more than a decade that Woods has competed in the tournament.
He had his two children Charlie and Sam on his bag for the round.
The turn around the golf course came at a much-needed interval in the hectic schedule of the 1D star who has had to come to terms with the shock departure of bandmate Zayn Malik.
