Why 2013 is shaping up to be the year of the Irish designer

Being an Irish designer looks to be in vogue for 2013 -- with a host of our most talented fashion creators set to blaze a trail over the next 12 months.

It's already shaping up to be a busy year for young Derry designer JW Anderson.

Last month, Anderson (28) made headlines after nabbing the prestigious Emerging Talent Award at the British Fashion Awards.

This year the son of Irish rugby player Willie Anderson launches his second collaboration with high street power house Topshop.

Anderson's first collection for the retail giant was an overwhelming success -- with super stylish celebs, including Alexa Chung, Pixie Geldoff and Daisy Lowe, snapping up his designs.

His upcoming collection will launch on February 15 -- just in time for the first day of London Fashion Week.

Expect glossy macs, classic clean oxford shirts, adorable pinafores and lots of black denim from the up and coming star of the fashion world.

The designer -- whose full name is Jonathan William Anderson -- is also set to collaborate with Versace's sister line Versus.

The collection will be issued to select department stores across Europe and the USA in March.

JW will be joining fellow Irish designer Simone Rocha as he showcases during London Fashion Week

Simone (27) -- daughter of renowned designer John Rocha -- is one of Ireland's youngest and most renowned designers. Her androgynous tailoring is a firm favourite among models and celebs.

Last month, Aussie songstress Kylie Minogue posed in Simone's Spring/ Summer 2013 collection for Elle magazine. And this month the designer appear in glossy fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar.

Movie Show presenter Angela Scanlon (28) will also be catching up with the young Irish designers and offering up her sartorial advice as she hosts this year's London Fashion Week.

Meath woman Angela topped Vogue's Hot List 2013 and has been dubbed the next Alexa Chung. Dean Quinn, from Fermanagh, has also made Vogue's list.

The 26-year-old designer has built up a loyal following State-side, having showcased his collections at New York Fashion Week for the past two years and he has also dressed pop princess Rihanna and Lady Gaga.

And, homegrown stylists Brendan Courtney and Sonya Lennon will see if their clothing line has what it takes with the launch of Lennon Courtney in Arnotts.
