Voters rank Leo ahead of Joan for workrate
Voters in Dublin West have been considerably more impressed by the performance of Fine Gael's Leo Varadkar than any other sitting TD.
Almost one in three people believe the Health Minister has been the most effective constituency TD during the current Dail.
This compares with just 14pc who said Tanaiste Joan Burton was the best performer.
As part of The Herald/Millward Brown opinion poll voters in Dublin West were asked which of their local TDs has been most effective.
Mr Varadkar came out on top with 30pc saying he did best, followed by Ruth Coppinger (AAA-PBP) on 20pc.
Joe Higgins, who is not seeking re-election, came third on 15pc while Ms Burton trailed in last place.
One in 10 voters believed that none of their sitting TDs have done a satisfactory job.
Worryingly for the Tanaiste's re-election chances a significant 42pc said the Labour Party leader is the least effective TD.
Another 27pc said Ms Coppinger was ineffective, compared with just 16pc who criticised Mr Higgins and 15pc who were unhappy with Mr Varadkar.
The Health Minister got the approval of 75pc of Fine Gael voters and the backing of 45pc of Fianna Fail supporters.
While 72pc of Labour supporters said Ms Burton was the most effective TD, another 16pc actually gave their top approval rating to Mr Varadkar.
