Vincent Browne: I've no intention of throwing in the towel at TV3
He's over the retirement age but Vincent Browne has no intentions of throwing in the towel on his broadcasting career.
The presenter (71) hit back at recent speculation that TV3 was searching for a replacement host for his current affairs show Tonight with Vincent Browne, saying he plans to continue working at the station for another decade.
Despite previously speaking out about his ill-health, including a battle with bronchitis, the TV personality hopes to remain on the show, which he has fronted since 2007.
"My contract with TV3 extends beyond three years by which time I expect I will negotiate a 10-year extension," the broadcaster tweeted yesterday in response to the reports which tipped Ivan Yates as his replacement.
In a statement released to the Herald last night, TV3 also added that while the station would not confirm the terms of the journalist's contract, they are happy with Browne's performance in the night time slot.
"The Tonight Show has grown exponentially under the stewardship of Vincent Browne and TV3 is extremely pleased with the ratings," the station said.
