Vandals target Confederate sites
Vandals in the US have targeted monuments dedicated to the leaders and soldiers of the pro-slavery Confederate States of Americas. Memorials in six states had the slogan "Black lives matter" painted on them.
The graffiti reflects the racial tension in America, more than a week after a white man was accused of shooting and killing nine black people at a church in Charleston, South Carolina.
Confederate symbols, including the rebel battle flag, have been the subject of resentment for years.
