Vandal broke windows before hiding in church

A DUBLIN man who smashed windows in three houses in the same estate was caught hiding in a church, a court heard.

Joseph Morgan (31) was seen entering the church by eye-witnesses and gardai were alerted.

Judge David McHugh adjourned sentencing to November after a probation report was ordered.

The defendant, of Corduff Green in Blanchardstown, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to criminal damage on August 22 last.

He also admitted to trespass at Lohunda Crescent on the same date.

Sergeant Maria Callaghan said Morgan damaged a bathroom window, a shed window and a kitchen window of three houses at Inglewood Road in Clonsilla. The total cost of the damage was €300.

Sgt Callaghan said Morgan was also seen leaving the back garden of a house at Lohunda Crescent.

The sergeant said Morgan was then spotted entering St Philip's Church in Clonsilla and gardai were alerted.

The court heard the defendant has 64 previous convictions.

Defence solicitor John O'Doherty said Morgan is awaiting sentencing before the Circuit Court on another matter.

Mr O'Doherty asked the judge to adjourn these matters until after the Circuit Court case is finalised.
