Tributes to poet Seamus Heaney
WORLD famous poet and Nobel prize winner Seamus Heaney has died.
The 74-year-old had been suffering from ill health recently and passed away at the Blackrock Clinic in Dublin.
Heaney, born near Toomebridge in the North, was acclaimed by many as the best Irish poet since Yeats.
He was a teacher and then had a distinguished career in poetry, winning the Nobel prize for literature in 1995.
Heaney received numerous honours for his work and counted former US president Bill Clinton among his many admirers.
