Trial for pensioner (67) on rape charge

A PENSIONER has appeared in court charged with raping and repeatedly sexually assaulting another male two decades ago.

The 67-year-old is facing trial by judge and jury after the DPP ruled the matters were too serious for the District Court.

The accused appeared before Tallaght District Court charged with one count of raping a male at a house in south Dublin on a date in 1992.

He is also charged with sexually assaulting the individual at the same location on various dates in 1992, 1993 and 1994.

Judge John Lindsay remanded the accused on bail in his own bond of €300. As part of his bail conditions, he must sign on once a week at his local garda station.

Judge Lindsay remanded the matter to January for the service of the book of evidence.
