IT HAS been a success in Dublin and now the public bike scheme is extending across the country.
A similar scheme will be in place in Limerick city by autumn 2014, Limerick Smarter Travel has announced.
And up to 300 bikes could be located across Cork city centre by next summer.
The Limerick plan will feature 400 bicycles, located in 23 stations. The scheme has been based on the Dublin operation, which has recorded in excess of three million journeys since it began in 2009.
The National Transport Authority will work with Limerick Smarter Travel to roll out the project in the city.
Public meetings in Cork and Limerick are due this week.
