Tourist has shoulder broken in mugging
A GROUP of American tourists have suffered a hellish holiday ordeal after being set upon by a group of thugs in a north Dublin park.
Two women and one man were attacked and robbed in Swords Park on Saturday night, leaving the man in need of hospital attention.
The Boston man was kicked and punched on the ground leaving him with a fractured shoulder.
He was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he was kept in over 24-hours for a scan and tests on his arm.
The man's girlfriend and their travel companion were also injured in the attack but did not require serious medical attention.
The shocking events unfolded in the usually-quiet park beside Swords Castle shortly after 8.45pm on Saturday.
It's understood that a camera bag was stolen from the trio.
A source has revealed that the man has been left "badly shaken" by the ordeal.
"They were due to move on to Cork after today [Sunday] after spending some time in Dublin," said a source.
"But this has obviously scuppered their plans."
Gardai last night confirmed that a man in his 20s had been detained in relation to the incident.
He was arrested close to Swords park at 11pm on Saturday.
He was later taken to Swords Garda Station where he is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
