Tourism: Hotels in crisis as UK visitors down by 15pc
A RISING number of Irish hotels are not making any profit as visitor numbers from Britain plummeted by 15pc.
The Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) said that hotel prices are now at 1999 levels and predicted another tough year in 2011.
"The sector is on the verge of collapse, we have another difficult year ahead," he said.
"There's a significant number of hotels not making a profit and things are going to get worse. Something will have to give."
However, although the overseas tourist market remained challenging, performance from domestic customers was "very strong".
