Today FM's Dermot Whelan has won the New York Festivals Radio Awards for his honest podcast about quitting booze.

He decided to give up alcohol because of his bad hangovers and recorded his journey on his podcast, The Booze Chronicles.

"I decided to use hypnosis to cut down on my drinking. I don't really drink more than anyone else but the hangovers were really wrecking my head," he said.

"I also felt like there were two versions of me - a 'good' side that loves exercise, early nights and porridge and a 'bad' side that likes to drink dirty big pints, open a wine on a Wednesday and occasionally, after a few shots, wear traffic cones on my head."
