Thundery showers on the way for weekend

IS it time to kiss summer goodbye already? The sunshine of the past few weeks is set to be replaced by thundery showers this weekend.

According to Met Eireann, temperatures will drop to between 14-18C across the country.

While the sun may shine for part of today, by afternoon rain will have moved in across the country .

Tomorrow looks set to follow a similar pattern with the sun shining in the east in the morning but with showers spreading from the west coast as the afternoon approaches.

Although it will be slightly warmer with temperatures expected to reach up to 18C.

Met Eireann expect this showery weather to continue until mid-week with a break around Wednesday.

The rain may dampen spirits of festival goers in Kilruddery House near Bray this weekend.

Paloma Faith and David Gray are headlining GrooveFest, an outdoor festival that is taking place on the impressive country estate on the outskirts of the capital.

This weekend outdoor opera will also take to the streets of Dublin with performances by the Wide Open Opera group.

The Dublin themed mini-operas will take place on streets across the capital today and at 7pm - for those who want to brave the showers - all five short operas will be performed at Dame Court.
