Three still held after death of Niall (18)
Gardai were today continuing to question three men in connection with a death of an 18-year-old man in Dundalk.
Niall Dorr (below) died in hospital after he was attacked by a group of up to seven people in the town on Wednesday night.
A 23-year-old and 21-year-old man were arrested on Thursday night at 8pm while a 30-year-old man was arrested yesterday afternoon.
The teenager sustained serious injuries after being subjected to a vicious assault less than three kilometres from his home.
He and two friends were walking along Castle Road in Dundalk, Co Louth, when they became involved in an altercation with a group of people between 9pm and 9.20pm on Wednesday night.
A kickboxing champion, he sustained head injuries and was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he died on Thursday night.
Just hours before the vicious assault, Niall had attended an interview for the army. He had already passed a fitness test.
The teenager had filled in a donor card just weeks before his death allowing all his organs to be donated.
Gardai are now carrying out a murder investigation and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
"We are particularly looking to speak to a motorist who witnessed the attack and flagged down a passing patrol car," said Supt Gerry Curley.
