Three gardai attacked in Louth

Three gardai have been attacked in the Clogherhead area of Co Louth.

The gardai were attacked while trying to execute a drugs warrant at a property.

The three gardai arrived at the property at approximately 10am this morning to execute a drugs warrant.

It is understood the man who opened the door had three knives in his hands. The gardai suffered superficial wounds.

A pitbull dog was also set upon the three men.

The three gardai were treated at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda. They areceived tetanus shots as part of their treatment.

The gardai have since been discharged from hospital.
