'The idea of dancing live on TV turns my legs to jelly' - Teresa
RTE reporter Teresa Mannion has revealed she has been practicing the tango for her part on the first Dancing With The Stars.
Ms Mannion, who is best known for her presenting during stormy weather conditions in Galway last year, admitted she was nervous about her performance.
She described the big promotional advert for the show - aired on TV over Christmas - as a "very glamorous, high-end promo that was fun to be part of".
Dancing With The Stars begins on RTE television on January 8.
Ms Mannion joked about having a fling with her dance partner.
"Ah yeah, I'll probably leave my husband before the end of the series. He says hopefully you might run away with one of the dancers," she said.
Speaking seriously, she said she was finding it hard to nail down her dance.
"I'm absolutely plagued with anxiety, I'm so nervous. Give me a live report on Salthill prom any day over trying to learn the tango.
"I'm struggling with it at the moment," she said of the Argentinian dance.
"The idea of dancing live on national television is turning my legs to jelly, so I'm hoping for a lot of sympathy votes," she added.
Ms Mannion said her dance partner was not South American but from closer to home.
"No, it's with a lovely Irish man. There's a mixture of nationalities," she said.
"There's Irish, English, Eastern European but it's all good, it really is great fun, a great experience to be part of," she added.
Comedian Katherine Lynch, former Operation Transformation doctor Eva Orsmond and model Thalia Heffernan are on the the list of contestants along with Des Bishop, actress Denise McCormack and Aoibhin Garrihy.
