the FIGURES AND FINANCES

The most recent accounts cover the period to the end of January 2011. How has Avoca traded for the past 11 months?

Trade has been slightly up again in 2011. The fact that there was no snow before Christmas helped enormously.

Also the new food market and cafe in Monkstown has had a great start but our wholesale business is challenged as our export markets, particularly the UK, are feeling the recession.

Avoca had sales of €48.6m last year. What proportion of those sales were to Irish residents and what proportion were to overseas visitors?

We don't count that figure but it's about 85pc Irish for our stores and cafes. Of our €10m wholesale about €7m is export.
