Temperatures to rise to sunny 24C

weather

the mercury will shoot up to 24c next week as sizzling temperatures are on the way.

Met Eireann said that scorching weather is finally on the way for Ireland from Tuesday. This week saw temperatures rise to more than 21C, but persistent cloud and rain made it almost impossible to tell whether the warmth was here to stay.

But Met Eireann's Eoin Sherlock thinks it's okay to get the sunglasses and shorts out and "make the best of it" next week.

"It will be hotter in the UK but we will continue to get temperatures in the low 20s this weekend," he told the Herald.
