Teen kidnapped by masked gang as he sold his car

A YOUNG man underwent a terrifying ordeal after he arranged to meet a potential buyer for a car only to be met by masked thugs, one
wielding a gun.

The 18-year-old was
kidnapped and held for hours before being taken to his home, where family members were assaulted and the house was robbed.

Gardai in Drogheda are investigating the incident, which occurred at Newtownstalaban, Drogheda, at approximately 11.30pm yesterday.

A spokesman said: "An 18-year-old man had
arranged to meet an individual at Newtownstalaban with a view to selling his car. However, when he went to the location he was met by two masked men, one armed with a firearm.

"The man was taken at gunpoint to a disused
farmhouse and held there for a number of hours.

"He was then taken to his own house where a number of family members were assaulted."

The spokesman said there were "no serious injuries" but that the house was searched and some property was taken.

He continued: "The masked men left the house in the owner's car, which was later found burnt out."

A garda spokesman this morning said that no arrests have yet been made as part of the investigation.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact Drogheda Garda Station on 041-9874200, or the
