Teen faces trial for gang attack

A YOUTH has been served with a book of evidence and sent forward for trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for assaulting a Polish national who was left scarred for life after a gang attack in Dublin.

The boy (17) had been charged at the Dublin Children's Court with assault causing harm and violent disorder, in Fairview, on May 30, 2010. He was remanded on continuing bail.

Two other teenagers are also due to face trial over the alleged assault.



Woman 'stole newborn baby'

New Zealand police say a woman faked being pregnant for nine months before snatching a newborn from a hospital and whisking it to a getaway car. She was caught when a suspicious nurse followed her out of the hospital on January 3.

Police spokeswoman Ana-Mari Gates-Bowey says Neha Narayan (24) has been charged with abduction and faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.

Narayan has handed authorities her Fijian passport and was released on bail.



Snoop Dogg on drugs charge

Rapper Snoop Dogg is facing a minor drug charge in Texas after border agents said they found several joints on his tour bus.

Hudspeth County sheriff's office said in a statement that Snoop Dogg, whose name is Calvin Broadus, was arrested on Saturday at the Sierra Blanca checkpoint and cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanour typical in cases involving small amounts of marijuana.

Broadus admitted the drug was his and was released, the sheriff's office said.



I'm gay says 70s star McNichol

Former child star Kristy McNichol, star of 1970s TV shows Family and Empty Nest, has come out as a lesbian, in a public gesture to support kids who are bullied over their sexuality.

McNichol (49) has been out of the public eye for 20 years. But she decided to share a photo of herself and her partner Martie Allen yesterday.

She "is very sad about kids being bullied", her publicist Jeff Ballard said.
