TDs should face full force of the law
What did TDs Mick Wallace and Clare Daly hope to achieve by their actions at Shannon Airport yesterday?
Mr Wallace says that Daly and he breached a cordon at the airport to search the planes for arms because "the State wasn't in favour of searching them".
As could be expected, the two TDs were arrested by alert airport police before they manage to reach their destination.
They were later questioned by gardai before being released without charge, with a file to be sent to the DPP.
The fact is that yesterday's events were nothing more than a publicity stunt, and an illegal one at that.
In this day and age any member of the public trespassing at an Irish - or any other - airport can expect to face the full force of the law.
We trust that these two TDs will be dealt with in the same manner - even if a court appearance would provide them with an opportunity for yet another publicity stunt.
