The Department of Justice has been called on to provide extra staff to Tallaght garda station to deal with an increase in burglaries, vandalism and anti-social behaviour in the area.

A number of homes in the Kilnamanagh have been the subject of burglaries in the recent weeks.

St Anne's primary school and the Little Children's Centre both in Fettercairn, have been burgled several times in recent months.

As a result of this crime surge, the Tallaght area committee of South Dublin County Council passed a motion by councillor Charlie O'Connor last week, calling on the Department of Justice to provide more staff and vehicles to the local garda station.
