Sybil to swap the glam for the wellies as she films new evening show, Life

TV3's Sybil Mulcahy is set to swap the cosy studio for the cold outdoors as she starts work on her new primetime evening show.

"The new show is called Life and it will go out five nights a week at 7.30pm. It's my first prime time TV show and the new show represents a serious investment by TV3," she told the Diary.

Sybil is finishing up on Midday this week to start filming features for the production, which is set to air in January 2015.

"I've started filming for it over the last week or so," she revealed. Filming is going to take me all over the country. I was in Sligo on Monday and in Fermanagh yesterday filming features for the show."

However, the former Xpose presenter admits that the show is still in development.

exciting

"The team hasn't been put together yet, so it's still in the early stages," she said. "Over the next few months they're approaching well-known Irish personalities to work as anchors on the show.

"It's really exciting and once we've confirmed everyone there's going to be a big launch to celebrate.

"Life will be going up against the soaps and all the known faces, so it's a big deal and there'll be a massive production team behind us," she added.

Sybil says it's amazing to be fronting her own flagship show on TV3.

"It's going be like the One Show meets Nationwide so it's going to be very busy.

"It's the first magazine-style show in the evenings on TV3 and it's going to be an alternative for people who don't like the soaps plus it's going to be Irish content for Irish people.

"People might be getting a bit tired of reality TV, or madcap documentaries, and Life is going to be easy viewing with really interesting content. Plus, there's a huge population of people out there who don't watch the soaps so we'll be offering an alternative for them," she added.

While she's looking forward to taking to air and researching stories, she hopes people will contact them with interesting ideas.

Sybil (right) is currently promoting Tesco Ireland's partnership with Temple St Children's Hospital with face painting taking place in every store this Saturday.

"It's important to support them - every parent has probably been there at some stage," she said.
