Street artist upset image used in a flooring advert
STREET artist Joe Caslin has said he's "upset" the image from his famous mural in support of same-sex marriage has been used on an ad for a Dublin flooring company.
Hampton's Floor Store used the picture of two men embracing on a banner ad to which they've added the words 'Everyone Deserves to Get Laid'.
Mr Caslin said their use of his artwork "devalues" its message. "I don't want my image on it," he said.
"My work has always been about raising awareness of social issues, it's never for advertisement."
The manager of the flooring store, James Jennings, said it wasn't their intention to upset Mr Caslin.
"We went into this with the best intentions, looking to try and lend our support to what we think is a positive message ... and we're disappointed that somebody feels somewhat aggrieved to the process," he said.
"We have been in contact with him and we're looking to resolve the matter," Mr Jennings added.
