THEY represent happy memories of childhood TV for people growing up during the 1990s, and now Ray D'Arcy and Socky have reunited.

The RTE presenter teamed up with his old pal Socky, who first appeared on The Den in 1992, to lend a hand to this year's World Down Syndrome Day.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event which will take place on March 21.

"World Down Syndrome Day is about more than creating awareness, it's a celebration of every person who has Down Syndrome," said Pat Clarke, the chief executive of Down Syndrome Ireland.

"It's their day to be proud of who they are and all that makes them so special and unique."

Ray, who recently moved from Today FM to RTE, said he was delighted to be involved in the campaign.

The charity is asking people to create awareness on social media by donning odd socks and posting a footsie - a foot selfie - online.

People can make a €2 donation to Down Syndrome Ireland by texting DSI to 50300.
