SIX youngsters were rescued when a sailing lesson went awry on yesterday in Dun Laoghaire Harbour.

An RNLI lifeboat was finishing up its own weekend training exercise when it noticed that the children's boat had upturned and the young sailors were in the water.

They had been returning to shore when a gust of wind upturned their sailing dingy about 500m from the shore.

The harbour was very busy yesterday afternoon when the incident occurred and nobody was injured in the accident.
