Six held for teen's murder

ISRAEL arrested six Jewish suspects in the grisly slaying of a Palestinian teenager who was abducted and burned to death last week, marking a breakthrough in a case that has touched off violent protests in Arab sections of Jerusalem and northern Israel.

In a statement, Israeli police and the Shin Bet security agency said the suspects were being interrogated.

While the statement did not say how many were taken into custody, an official,speaking on condition of anonymity, said it was six.

In a case that has gripped the country's attention, Mohammed Abu Khdeir (16) was abducted outside his home in east Jerusalem last Wednesday, and his charred remains were found in a Jerusalem forest shortly afterward.

Swimmer tells of shark attack

A man who was attacked by a great white shark off a southern California beach has describing how quickly a routine swim turned into a nightmare.

Steven Robles was in the water off Manhattan Beach near Los Angeles when the 7ft juvenile shark appeared yesterday morning.

He told KABC-TV that the shark looked at him and "locked into my chest".

Mr Robles was taken to shore and was later 
released from hospital.

11 killed in 
wall collapse

Eleven construction workers were killed in southern India after the boundary wall of a warehouse collapsed.

The labourers had built lean-tos and shacks near the wall that came down after heavy rains, said K Veera Raghav Rao, a senior district official.

One worker was hospitalized in a village in Tamil Nadu state's Thiruvallur district. Rao said the cause of the collapse would be investigated.

Child serial killer confesses

Authorities in Mexico say a man has confessed to killing at least five females, all but one of them minors, in the northern state of San Luis Potosi.

The state attorney general's office says 43-year-old Filiberto Hernandez Martinez was arrested after confessing to committing the killings since 2010.
