Sharon, Saoirse and Angela up style stakes
DUBLIN put its best fashion foot forward yesterday and showed that when it comes to the style stakes the capital is a shoo-in.
Brown Thomas launched its Autumn Winter collection for the city's eager fashionistas at Caroline Downey's annual ISPCC Childline lunch with singer Sharon Corr hosting and Hollywood starlet Saoirse Ronan and Louis Walsh in attendance.
Showcase And later in the evening stylist and presenter Angela Scanlon jetted into the capital to showcase the best of the independent boutiques in the city's creative quarter.
It might have started as a dressed-down Friday off set but actress Saoirse found herself centre-stage after flying home for the charity event.
For someone who was up at 5am for a flight, Saoirse (20), looked very composed, and chic in her glamorous designer outfit.
Saoirse wore a beaded Peter Pilotto two piece and impossibly high, red Miu Miu sandals with memorable chunky crystal heels.
"I'd prefer to be in Converse right now," Saoirse quipped.
Saoirse confessed that her latest movie, Brooklyn, which was based on the book of the same name by Colm Toibin and wrapped a couple of months ago was probably "the toughest job" she's ever done.
Later stylist and RTE presenter Angela Scanlon (29), was at the Powerscourt Centre for a key event in the Dublin Fashion Festival and she said the capital has the goods when it comes to style.
"We're definitely up there.
"We approach style and fashion with a sense of humour," she added.
