Tallaght-based charity Teenline has teamed up with Shamrock Rovers and Wicklow band The Matthews to raise money for the service.

The band - three brothers Max, Jack and Art - will release their new single Save Me on October 10.

The song and the video were recorded in LA and the three young men decided to donate all proceeds to Teenline.

"They approached us, which was great - and so unusual for a charity," chairperson of Teenline Declan Brennan told the Herald.

The single was launched in Tallaght Stadium and Shamrock Rovers are encouraging all of their members to download it.

"We are hoping to get as many people as possible to pre-order the single because that will boost it on iTunes and determine its radio play," Mr Brennan added.

"There is such a need for services like Teenline," band member Max said.

It was Shamrock Rovers supporters who suggested that the talented trio use their next single to help Teenline he said.

The helpline receives no state funding and relies solely on donations to stay open.

Staffed by volunteers and open only on a part-time basis the helpline answered around 20,000 calls last year.

The song can be found at: www.itunes.apple.com/…/album/save-me-single and costs 99c.
