Crimes at business sites rise 10pc to 6,000
MORE than 6,000 incidents of criminal activity at business premises were recorded across the country this year, an increase of 10pc on last year.
Figures compiled by security company Netwatch show that July was the busiest month for criminal activity, with just under 900 incidents recorded by the company.
Netwatch provides security service to over 2,000 Irish businesses. The construction industry is most at risk from criminals, accounting for 16pc of all criminal activity recorded by Netwatch. David Walsh, Netwatch chief executive, said the figures show in the majority of cases "crime is committed by a lone intruder, travelling on foot, targeting small valuable items".
